Short answer
School Research shows the public and charter schools serving a Texas address, with accountability ratings from the Texas Education Agency and campus data such as graduation rate and student-teacher ratio. Enter an address to see its zoned campuses, or browse a county and filter by minimum rating and school level. Zoning can change from year to year, so confirm it with the district before you decide.
What is School Research?
It is a lookup and a browser for public and charter schools in Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Waller, Grimes and Austin counties. It reports what the state publishes about each campus and matches zoning to an address, not to a ZIP code.
What do I get?
- The zoned campuses for a specific address, with the district named.
- The state's A-to-F accountability rating for each campus, from the 2024-25 cycle.
- Measures the state publishes, including college, career and military readiness, four-year graduation rate, AP and IB results and student-teacher ratio.
- Separate lists for public and charter schools, each with its own search, so you can compare campuses side by side.
- Filters for a minimum rating and for school level, so you can set the lowest grade you want to see.
- The same zoned schools on every listing, plus home search filters for school district, zoned school and minimum elementary, middle and high school grades.
A real example. A Cypress listing in September 2026 (address left out) was zoned to campuses whose 2025 state ratings were A for elementary, A for middle and B for high school. The report showed the ratings with their source and no opinion attached.
Why did we build it, and who does it help?
Buyers ask about schools constantly, and the answers they find can be review stars from strangers or a ZIP-wide guess, which say little about the campus a particular address is zoned to. I wanted the state's own numbers, matched to the exact address, with the choice of what matters left to you.
Buyers can shop by campus first and let the house follow. Sellers can see how their zoned campuses appear to buyers using the same tool.
How does it work, and where does the data come from?
The ratings and measures come from the Texas Education Agency's accountability ratings and its Texas Academic Performance Reports. We load them, attach them to campuses and match campuses to addresses using attendance-zone boundaries.
A rating is one measure among many and not a verdict on a school. We show what the state publishes and do not rank schools ourselves. School zoning can change through boundary adjustments, capacity transfers or magnet programs, so confirm the current zone with the school district before you make a decision.

Do I need an account to use it?
Registration is free. The School Research tool opens without an account. One registration also unlocks sold prices, listing history and our home value estimate elsewhere on the site.
Why do we ask you to register?
Some of what we share, like recent sold prices, a home’s sales and listing history, and our home value estimate, comes from or is built on data from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) MLS. MLS rules let us share that information only with registered visitors. Allen is a REALTOR® licensed by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC), and he follows those rules because he values his license and your trust. Registration is free.

- From the Texas Education Agency. We show its ratings and measures and do not add our own score.
- Can I search homes by school?
- Yes. Advanced search has filters for school district, zoned school and minimum grades for elementary, middle and high school.
- Will a rating change?
- Yes. The state updates ratings on its own schedule, and the tool shows the cycle it is using.
- Who confirms my zoned school?
- The school district. Zoning can change, so ask the district's enrollment office before you make an offer.
